Vermilion Group is the private direct investment arm for the Mortenson family. Vermilion partners with founder- and family-owned businesses, providing patient, long-term capital to help great companies become even stronger. The team is industry-agnostic, with experience across manufacturing, distribution, and business services, and typically invests in majority recapitalizations, control investments, and select co-investments. Vermilion operates outside traditional fund cycles, prioritizing long-term stewardship, value creation, and positive impact for employees, communities, and the environment.
Mortenson is seeking a Finance Business Partner to support Vermilion Group. This role is responsible for leading the development and delivery of financial results, insights, and strategic recommendations to Vermilion's leadership team. The Finance Business Partner will act as a key liaison between the Vermilion team, its parent company (M. A. Mortenson Companies), and the broader Finance organization, playing a critical role in driving financial performance and enabling strategic growth across the Vermilion portfolio.
This role operates in an environment with evolving priorities, imperfect information, and open-ended questions. Success requires comfort making judgment calls and building solutions rather than relying on defined playbooks. You will partner directly with portfolio company executive teams (CFOs and CEOs), serving as a thought partner and building trusted, long-term relationships—not just providing financial analysis.
Please note that our postings are typically open a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days. Mortenson reserves the right to hire any individual without legal or financial obligation on unwanted solicitations. No agency emails, calls, or solicitations are accepted without a valid agreement.
Your uniqueness brings new and creative perspectives to the team. Mortenson is committed to providing equal opportunities of employment (EOE) to all individuals, regardless of your race, religion, gender, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, marital status, or any other legally protected category.
Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position. Candidates must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, O-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.).
