The HVAC Facilities Services Supervisor serves as a critical leader within the FDM team, responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of craft, trades, and labor staff across campus zones. This role is essential for ensuring the construction, repair, maintenance, and installation of campus building equipment and systems run smoothly and safely.
In this position, you will guide the routine operations of the HVAC unit, managing everything from work schedules and equipment usage to the procurement of materials and vendor services. You will supervise the selection and management of outside contractors, ensuring strict adherence to state and federal code requirements, OSHA regulations, and hazardous materials handling. The role demands a hands-on approach, requiring you to inspect job sites, verify code compliance, and maintain accurate records via electronic work order systems.
You will also play a key role in the design and specifications of planned jobs, preparing sketches, labor estimates, and material requisitions. As a supervisor, you will make decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, and promotion, while training employees on new HVAC methods and procedures. The work environment is dynamic, taking you both inside and outside across the Tempe campus in all weather conditions, often requiring the ability to quickly shift priorities to resolve conflicts or handle emergency responses.
