As a Facilities Equipment Technician, you will be the backbone of our Kansas City industrial campus, ensuring the continuous operation of our material handling fleet. In this non-exempt, hourly role, you will provide efficient preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for a diverse range of equipment, including electric, LP, and diesel-powered forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and order pickers.
Your day-to-day involves diagnosing and fixing complex electrical (12V–48V), hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to minimize operational downtime. You will conduct mandatory OSHA inspections, manage battery maintenance and charging systems, and maintain detailed service records for every asset. Beyond technical repairs, you will coordinate with third-party specialists for major overhauls, manage critical spare parts inventory, and support lifecycle planning by advising on repair-versus-replace decisions.
Safety is paramount in this role. You will work in a dynamic environment that includes both shop and outdoor settings, often exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions. You are expected to maintain a safe work environment by strictly adhering to PPE requirements, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal and EPA compliance.
To apply, please submit your resume highlighting your hands-on experience with forklifts and material handling equipment. Candidates with multi-brand experience and factory certifications from major manufacturers (such as Toyota, Crown, or Hyster-Yale) are strongly encouraged to apply. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between campus facilities daily are required.
