The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC is seeking a faculty candidate to join the Division of Epilepsy. This role serves as an epileptologist with a primary focus on the surgical epilepsy program, operating under the leadership of Dr. Page B. The University of Pittsburgh Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (UPCEC) is a Level 4 accredited center, established in 1986, that provides national and regional referral and consultative services. It is a joint program combining the resources of the University of Pittsburgh, UPMC, and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The division encompasses all services for adults with epilepsy, supported by a dedicated team of epileptologists, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, EEG technologists, Advanced Practice Providers, epilepsy nurses, and social workers.
Research conducted at the Epilepsy Center has contributed to the introduction of multiple new antiseizure medications, innovative approaches to presurgical evaluations, and advancing the treatment of women with epilepsy. The department recently received over $25 million in research support and holds the NINDS UE5 to support research training.
You will become part of an epilepsy division featuring 11 adult epileptologist physicians, 4 Advanced Practice Providers, and 8 fellows annually. The role involves clinical services spanning outpatient clinics, EEG and continuous video-EEG monitoring across the UPMC network, and subspecialty clinics in functional seizures, RNS, women's epilepsy, and a multi-disciplinary clinic with neurosurgery for epilepsy surgery candidates.
A key highlight of this opportunity is the opening of a new 10-bed, self-contained adult EMU in early 2025. The position offers a University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine faculty appointment commensurate with experience.
