The University of Pittsburgh Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (UPCEC) is a joint program combining the resources of the University of Pittsburgh, UPMC, and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Established in 1986, the center is accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) as a Level 4 epilepsy center. Clinical services span outpatient clinics, EEG and continuous video-EEG monitoring across the UPMC network, and subspecialty clinics covering functional seizures, Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS), women's epilepsy, and a multidisciplinary clinic for epilepsy surgery candidates. The department has a strong research tradition, contributing to the introduction of multiple new antiseizure medications and advancing treatments for women with epilepsy. In FY25, the department received over $25 million in research support and holds the NINDS UE5 grant for the "Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuropathology Pittsburgh Research Education Plan (N3-PREP)."
You will join a dedicated team of 11 adult epileptologist physicians, 4 Advanced Practice Providers, and 8 fellows annually. Your day-to-day work involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary group including neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, EEG technologists, epilepsy nurses, and social workers.
