The Environmental Services Worker plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, attractive, and safe hospital environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position ensures the facility meets established orderliness and safety standards through the systematic application of cleaning procedures. The role is integral to supporting the USC University Hospital mission by fostering a healthy atmosphere for everyone on campus.
You will be responsible for a wide range of cleaning and maintenance tasks across public, ancillary, patient, surgical, and office areas. Your day involves dusting, mopping, and scrubbing surfaces, as well as burnishing carpets and cleaning fixtures. A key part of your duties includes the proper disposal of various waste types, including trash, biohazardous materials, pharmaceuticals, and medical waste, while strictly adhering to infection control standards.
Beyond cleaning, you will monitor the facility for items needing repair, replenish restroom supplies, and document your tasks. Success in this role requires demonstrating respect and positive interpersonal skills while interacting with patients, clients, and colleagues. You will function both independently and as a collaborative team player, attending required orientation and training seminars to stay current with hospital policies.
