Based in our Oakland, California offices, this Enterprise Strategy & Business Development Lead Consultant, Ventures role serves as a strategic partner to KP executives, bridging the gap between investment theory and operational execution. You will drive the organization's growth agenda by developing investment theses, sourcing deal flow, and executing complex transactions in healthcare delivery, health plans, and health care technology.
This position exists to accelerate KP's long-term strategy by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities. You will lead the full lifecycle of investment activities, from initial diligence and term sheet negotiation to board participation and value-add efforts for portfolio companies. The role requires a unique blend of financial acumen and healthcare domain expertise to translate broad corporate strategies into clear, actionable objectives.
Your work will span high-level strategic planning and hands-on deal execution. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across health plans, finance, IT, and regional functions to ensure alignment on business development initiatives. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to presenting insights, investment recommendations, and portfolio performance to the Investment Committee, KP executives, and Limited Partners. You will also represent KPV on the boards of directors for portfolio companies, acting as both an official and unofficial observer to guide strategic decision-making.
Qualified candidates will be evaluated on their ability to demonstrate deep expertise in healthcare venture or private equity, leadership capabilities, and experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder transactions. The selection process focuses on identifying individuals who can model team collaboration, adapt to competing demands, and drive projects forward through effective communication and feedback.

MBA in Finance and Accounting, Investments, or Investor Relations; four years of direct investment experience in health care services or health information technology companies; four years of experience serving on boards of privately-held companies; four years of experience sourcing, analyzing, and executing venture-backed investments; Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration; four years of experience in corporate, partnership, and/or relationship management in new business start-up including health systems, physicians, and other diversified businesses; four years of experience in managing complex transactions within healthcare delivery; two years of experience in healthcare.
