AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.
We value diverse experiences and encourage candidates to apply even if their background hasn't followed a traditional path. Our inclusive team culture fosters curiosity and connection through employee-led and company-sponsored affinity groups. We strive to become Earth's Best Employer by providing endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and career-advancing resources to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.
As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you will serve as Amazon's front line for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of mission-critical technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations that power global digital experiences. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining an extraordinary 99.999% uptime.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You will collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost. This role acts as the primary point of contact for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of mission-critical facility equipment, including stand-by diesel generators, fuel systems, three-phase electrical systems (switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, batteries), and mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, and motors).
Candidates must be able to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed. This role supports data centers in various operational stages; you may be assigned to a facility still under development, which could require travel to established locations for training until your designated site becomes fully operational. A lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
Important Location Note: PDX is an AWS GovCloud region. As required by our contracts with the federal government, effective February 24, 2026, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States.
