About The Newbury Boston

The Newbury Boston, located at One Newbury Street in the premier shopping and dining neighborhood of Boston's Back Bay, is an iconic property originally opened in 1927 as one of the first Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and most recently the Taj Boston. The building was recently transformed into a 286-room luxury hotel with 16,000-sq-ft of stunning event spaces, signature dining experiences, and a reimagined front entrance on Newbury Street.

About the Role

The Engineering Manager serves as the steward of the hotel's physical infrastructure, responsible for the safe, profitable, and efficient operation of the engineering division. This role goes beyond technical oversight; it is a leadership position dedicated to maintaining the property's luxury standards while ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal laws. The Engineering Manager will cultivate a culture of safety and service excellence, guiding a team of engineers to deliver seamless guest experiences through proactive maintenance and rapid response to operational needs.

In this capacity, you will be the bridge between the hotel's historic charm and modern operational demands. Your day will involve strategic planning for asset preservation, managing complex vendor relationships, and leading safety initiatives. You will ensure that every system, from HVAC to life safety equipment, operates at peak performance, directly contributing to the guest's comfort and the hotel's reputation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will not only manage budgets and schedules but also actively participate in the hotel's safety committees and energy conservation programs, driving productivity and solving complex operational challenges.

Application Instructions

Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter detailing their facilities management experience in a luxury hotel environment. Please highlight any specific experience with older building systems, union environments, or HVAC, electrical, and plumbing operations.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Highgate Hotels is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
