About the Role

This Entry-level Engineer I position serves as a vital component of the Development Review Division within the Planning Services Department. The role is dedicated to supporting engineering-related tasks for Planning and Oil & Gas land use cases, ensuring that development projects align with community standards and safety regulations.

In this capacity, you will manage the case lifecycle for various development submittals, with a specific focus on engineering review and inspection. Your work will involve analyzing drainage reports against the Weld County Code, evaluating traffic studies to assess the impact of development on transportation systems, and recommending necessary improvements. You will also review engineered plans for on-site and off-site improvements, providing redlines and feedback to ensure compliance.

Beyond technical analysis, this role requires strong communication skills. You will present complex engineering information both in professional written formats and verbally to a diverse audience, including landowners, engineers, consultants, Boards, and Commissions. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of Improvements Agreements for the Board of County Commissioners and manage access and Floodplain permitting processes.

Hiring Process & Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and liability insurance upon hire, as driving is an essential function of this position. Employment is contingent upon passing a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation, which will be subject to continuous monthly monitoring and random drug screens throughout employment. A pre-employment substance screening is also required in accordance with Weld County policy.
