About the Role
As an Employment Coach, you will be a responsible and caring mentor dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in San Diego County. This role goes beyond simple supervision; it is about partnering with individuals to discover their unique interests, skills, and employment goals.
Your day will involve a blend of job development and on-the-job support. You will guide individuals through resume building, interview practice, and learning new employability skills. A significant part of your time will be spent in the community, assisting with transportation, accessing local resources, and maintaining productivity at work sites. You will work closely with each person's "circle of support" to create meaningful daily schedules and secure competitive, integrated employment that aligns with their talents.
Above all, you will be the bridge between the individual and their new work environment, helping them build respectful relationships with employers and colleagues. Whether you are conducting job site analyses, implementing positive behavior support strategies, or providing specialized healthcare needs as required, your goal is to ensure the highest quality of life and safety for those you support.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleImplement positive behavior support strategies and adaptation devices based on individual needs
- check_circleProvide healthcare assistance such as medication, hygiene, and feeding as needed
- check_circleMonitor and report on individual service plan goals and SMART objectives
- check_circleConduct task analysis and utilize data-based training decisions for skill development
- check_circleShadow and train other coaches while supporting specific individuals
- check_circleMentor individuals with developmental disabilities to secure competitive integrated employment
- check_circleCommunicate updates regarding individuals served to supervisors and stakeholders
- check_circleFacilitate job applications and maintain relationships with prospective employers
- check_circleCollaborate with circles of support to create meaningful daily schedules and individualized plans
- check_circleComplete required documentation including daily care notes and personnel files
Requirements
- verifiedTwo years of college or equivalent experience
- verifiedExperience supporting people with disabilities
- verifiedProficiency in computers and online platforms
- verifiedAbility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Nice to Have
Two years of college or equivalent experience. Job development and on-the-job support experience. Experience supporting people with disabilities, preferably in community integrated settings. Positive behavior support training experience.
