The Employment Security Commission (OESC) administers the state unemployment insurance tax program mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor. Operating within the Tax Division, the agency ensures compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations to support Oklahoma's workforce security system.
As an Employer Compliance Officer, you will serve as a frontline expert within the Employer Compliance Department. Your primary mission is to administer the state unemployment insurance tax program, ensuring that employers accurately report wages and pay their required taxes. This role exists to maintain the integrity of the unemployment insurance fund by balancing tax accounting systems, analyzing employer documentation, and resolving complex compliance issues.
You will act as a key point of contact for stakeholders, counseling employers on the interpretation of the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission Act and correct reporting procedures. The position involves high-volume interaction with taxpayers, requiring you to determine employer liability, manage tax accounts, and investigate missing wages for claimants. You will also handle complex scenarios involving business acquisitions, transfers, and successor employers, often serving as an expert witness in administrative hearings.
This is an on-site role based in Oklahoma City, requiring direct interaction with staff, clients, and office resources. You will work as part of a team that makes wide-ranging decisions to resolve taxpayer compliance issues while maintaining strict safety and security protocols.
