About the Role
A growing manufacturing organization on the North Carolina coast is seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager to lead a small embedded software team. This role is best suited for someone who still enjoys being deep in the code while also guiding and mentoring engineers.
This is not a heavily administrative management role. Instead, it functions as a technical lead position with meaningful ownership of architecture, development, and problem-solving, paired with gradual people-leadership responsibilities. You will act as the technical lead for a tight-knit team, spending the majority of your time writing, debugging, and reviewing code. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to designs that go from concept to real-world deployment, collaborating closely with hardware and cross-functional teams.
Team & Culture
You will lead a team of approximately five embedded engineers, managing a blend of onsite full-time engineers and contractors. The environment fosters strong collaboration with in-house hardware teams and offers the chance to participate in client-facing technical discussions. Location & Work Model
This is an onsite position located in Wilmington, NC, requiring a 5-day work week. The office is situated close to downtown Wilmington, offering a convenient location for team members.

While roughly 10+ years of relevant experience is preferred, the organization remains flexible for the right profile. The compensation package is competitive and flexible, based on experience.
