As an Editorial Assistant within the Baker Academic and Brazos Press Editorial department, you will provide essential support to the editorial team. This role serves as a vital bridge between acquisitions, design, production, and marketing, ensuring that projects move smoothly from concept to completion.
You will be the guardian of the book-production process, managing reprint corrections and cloth-to-paper conversions while collaborating closely with various departments to keep projects on schedule. Your day will involve editing and routing materials from visual communications and marketing, such as covers, ads, and catalogs, as well as assisting editors with proofreading indexes and manuscripts. Additionally, you will perform critical checks at the end of the production cycle, reviewing printer proofs and ebook files before final release.
Beyond production tasks, you will handle routine administrative duties, including scheduling editorial meetings, preparing files for CIP data, and managing printing and mailing for colleagues. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with internal teams like acquisitions and design editors, as well as external authors and freelancers, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to high-quality publishing.
