Who Can Drive?
The Uber community is diverse, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and industries. This includes individuals with previous employment experience in transportation—such as delivery drivers, professional drivers, truck drivers, taxi chauffeurs, and bus operators—as well as those with experience on other peer-to-peer ridesharing networks. Drivers often use the platform to supplement their existing part-time or full-time income.
Uber welcomes applicants year-round, regardless of the season. To get started, drivers must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid U.S. driver's license and vehicle insurance, and have at least one year of driving experience in the U.S. (three years if under 23). The vehicle used must be a 4-door model.
Getting Started
Signing up takes seconds, and support is provided along the way. New drivers can sign up to drive and earn a promotional bonus of at least $2,060 if they complete 165 trips in their first 30 days. This offer is available to new drivers who have never previously signed up to drive or deliver with Uber and complete the minimum trip threshold in their city within 30 days of signing up.
