The Director of Administration at the Mary Herbert Education Center serves as a pivotal leader in promoting the success of all students and staff by facilitating the development, articulation, and stewardship of the district's vision for learning. This role is dedicated to sustaining a positive district culture through integrity, fairness, and ethical leadership. Working closely with administration, staff, and the community, the Director advances the mission of Emporia Public Schools and the common good.
Reporting directly to the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Student Services, this position acts as a strategic partner in leading district programming and initiatives. The Director supports the integration of technology standards, curriculum development, and assessment processes while ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations. The role involves a dynamic day-to-day environment that requires balancing high-level strategic planning with hands-on operational support, including overseeing student support services, managing disciplinary hearings, and fostering partnerships to strengthen district programs.
The position demands a professional who can navigate complex educational landscapes, from coordinating the annual academic calendar to managing federal funds and compliance. The Director models research-based practices in professional development and serves as a mentor to aspiring educators and administrators. Success in this role requires the ability to maintain emotional control under stress, collaborate effectively across departments, and communicate the positive aspects of the school program to the public.
