This position serves as the strategic leader for the organization's IT infrastructure, with a primary focus on the management, strategy, and execution of all ERP systems. Working in close conjunction with vendors, consultants, IT staff, and senior organizational leaders, the role identifies the necessary hardware, software, and network technologies to address evolving business system needs. The incumbent is responsible for developing and monitoring the annual budget and departmental goals in alignment with the broader IT Strategic Plan.
The role operates within a complex matrix environment, requiring the ability to lead cross-functional teams across multiple lines of business where direct authority may not exist. A significant portion of the day is dedicated to managing the full lifecycle of vendor-supplied and in-house developed software, from detailed analysis and design to testing and maintenance. The incumbent acts as a bridge between technical staff and the business community, translating operational efficiency needs into actionable strategies.
Key daily activities include assessing needs for ERP products through feasibility analysis, managing competitive intelligence, and establishing consistent communication standards regarding project status and enhancements. The role also involves recruiting, hiring, and mentoring a skilled team to operate and support ERP systems, while directly evaluating performance and providing guidance to foster professional growth.
As a key partner to the CIO, this role contributes to the creation of the annual financial systems plan, including budgeting and staffing requirements. The incumbent drives operational efficiency by analyzing, mapping, and documenting processes to develop frameworks for standardization and improvement. Success in this position requires a strong partnership with the business community to ensure that ERP programs deliver successful business results and meet the needs of the user community.
