Catholic Charities Worcester County is dedicated to providing temporary emergency shelter for families facing homelessness when other options are unavailable. About the Role
As a Direct Care Worker, you will be the heartbeat of our Family Shelter, assisting in its general operation while upholding our core values. This role exists to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment where families in crisis can find stability. You will be monitoring client activities, maintaining shelter order, and providing light housekeeping, all while establishing meaningful connections with guests.
Your day will involve more than just operational tasks; you will be a guide and a resource. You will assist clients with their immediate needs and questions, provide referrals, and document interactions with care. A key part of your role is teaching life skills, such as housekeeping and house management, to empower guests. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and privacy of all guests, managing food supplies, and stepping in with crisis intervention when necessary. Whether working independently or as part of a collaborative team, you will help implement programs designed to meet the unique needs of our guests.
