Interstate Waste Services (IWS) stands as the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services across the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut markets, featuring a rail-served landfill in Ohio. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown through strategic acquisitions, many of which were family-owned businesses that remain integral parts of our team today. This unique evolution allows us to combine the robust resources of a large corporation with the enduring values and care of a family-run business.
We are committed to delivering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing the safety of our employees, customers, and communities. Our diverse client base includes industrial, medical, and commercial/residential sectors, requiring a workforce that is adaptable, safety-conscious, and dedicated to excellence.
This position serves as a vital support pillar within our maintenance operations, bridging the gap between drivers and senior technicians. You will be the first line of defense in vehicle safety, assisting drivers with daily post-trip and vehicle safety inspections to ensure every truck is road-ready. Your day will involve conducting thorough safety checks during safety lanes and preventative maintenance (PM) sessions, ensuring that our heavy-duty and light-duty trucks—from rear loaders to roll-offs—are operating at peak efficiency.
Beyond inspections, you will actively participate in the maintenance workflow by performing basic repairs, completing lubrication schedules, and supporting technicians with complex engine, transmission, and brake repairs. You will utilize factory service manuals to guide repairs and maintain clear communication with A & B technicians and drivers to discuss vehicle issues and preventative techniques. A clean, safe, and organized shop environment is a priority, reflecting our commitment to OSHA standards and corporate ethics.
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to participate in corporation-sponsored training courses to stay current with technology and safety protocols. We are committed to inclusivity and will provide reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
