About the Role
As a Deployed Customer Engineer (DCE), you serve as the technical bridge between Couchbase’s engineering excellence and our customers’ most ambitious business goals. You are an embedded technical partner who writes production-grade code, builds high-performance database architectures, and ensures our platform powers the heart of mission-critical, AI-driven applications.
In this role, you will deliver strategic solutioning and work directly within customer engineering teams to drive business outcomes through technical implementations. You will act as the "boots on the ground" to troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues, participate in customer sprints and code reviews, and translate business requirements into technical milestones. Your work ensures customers achieve rapid time-to-value while fostering a culture of innovation and resilience.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleConfigure Couchbase Server, Capella, and Mobile products to optimize for latency, throughput, and reliability
- check_circleDesign and implement advanced data architectures including Vector Search and RAG patterns for AI applications
- check_circleTroubleshoot complex distributed systems issues, performance bottlenecks, and deployment hurdles
- check_circleTranslate business requirements into technical milestones to ensure rapid time-to-value for customers
- check_circleWrite clean, scalable code to build integrations, APIs, and data models connecting Couchbase with customer ecosystems
- check_circleIntegrate directly with customer development teams to participate in sprints and code reviews
- check_circleAct as a conduit between field teams and Product/Engineering to advocate for features and fixes
- check_circlePartner with Solution Engineers to identify expansion opportunities by demonstrating technical capabilities
Requirements
- verified5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Technical Consulting
- verifiedStrong proficiency in at least two major programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#)
- verifiedDeep understanding of NoSQL concepts, distributed systems, and SQL-based query languages (N1QL)
- verifiedExperience deploying large-scale distributed databases or data-intensive applications
- verifiedComfortable navigating Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift)
Nice to Have
Experience with Vector Search and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns for modern AI applications.
