About the Mission

The U.S. Navy is launching a unique, limited-time pilot program to integrate civilian Dental Hygienists into the Hospital Corpsman (HM/DH) role. This initiative is designed to fast-track advancement for qualified professionals within a mission-driven environment. The core purpose of this role is to support the oral health and operational readiness of Sailors, Marines, and their families, ensuring forces remain fit for duty.

About the Role

As a Hospital Corpsman specializing in Dental Hygiene, you will provide comprehensive clinical care in modern facilities ranging from state-of-the-art hospitals to afloat units aboard aircraft carriers and hospital ships. You will join a team-based practice focused on patient readiness rather than private practice production pressures. Your day-to-day involves delivering preventive and therapeutic dental care, performing advanced periodontal therapy, and providing critical oral health education.

This role offers a dynamic mix of clinical duties and global opportunities. You may serve in Navy bases across the U.S. and overseas, or deploy to support humanitarian missions and operational needs in unique environments worldwide. Hiring Process & Application

To join this pilot program, candidates must complete interviews with clinical supervisors and provide a recommendation from their program director. Specific entry pathways depend on your current credentials:

• Licensed Civilian Pathway: Graduates of CODA-accredited programs with a current state license may enlist directly at the E-6 paygrade.
• Recent Graduate Pathway: Recent CODA graduates not yet licensed may enlist at the E-4 paygrade.
• In-Service Pathway: Current active-duty or Reserve Sailors may apply after meeting specific career milestones.
