The Default Recovery Analyst plays a critical role in the post-charge-off recovery of deposit and loan funds. This position requires a systematic and strategic approach to collecting debts that have already been written off, utilizing active collection methods, skip tracing, and legal pursuit when necessary to recover funds for the Credit Union.
In this role, you will engage in outbound calling efforts to contact members regarding charged-off loans and deposit accounts. A significant portion of the work involves actively skip tracing to locate relevant contact, employment, and collection information to strategically reach borrowers. You will manage a portfolio of accounts assigned to small claims and legal proceedings, occasionally appearing in court on behalf of the Credit Union.
The role also requires analyzing settlement requests from debt consolidation companies, direct borrowers, and other sources to determine their validity and viability. You will document all member interactions, payment agreements, and action plans accurately in the core collection system. Collaboration with internal business units is essential to ensure a coordinated approach to loss collection, and you will assist the Manager of Default Management in reviewing reports on recovery trends and member interactions.
Throughout your tenure, you must ensure all activities comply with federal and state regulations, as well as Credit Union policies and procedures. You will take ownership of your actions and results, openly accepting feedback to demonstrate a willingness and ability to improve.
