The Montana Board of Crime Control (MBCC) is dedicated to proactively contributing to public safety, crime prevention, and victim assistance. Through planning, policy development, and coordination of the justice system, MBCC partners with citizens, government, and communities across Montana. The team consists of twenty-one dedicated employees sharing a vision of public service for the state's most vulnerable citizens.
This position serves as a critical support pillar for MBCC's database hosting services and the deployment of state-standard database technology. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of relational database systems, from design and development to administration and maintenance of mission-critical operations.
Your day-to-day involves creating and configuring production databases, managing backup and recovery strategies, and implementing robust security measures. You will diagnose complex database issues, monitor performance, and execute tuning to ensure optimal functionality. Beyond technical execution, you will make strategic decisions regarding database architecture, manage user access, and support user needs by extracting data and responding to requests. As agency priorities shift, you will adapt to new assignments with minimal retraining, potentially taking ownership of specific project components.
