Customer Service/Sales

Position Purpose

Customer Service and Sales Associates serve as the frontline of our retail environment, dedicated to delivering fast, friendly service by actively engaging with customers to assess their needs. In this role, you will become an expert on our products using our internal tools, providing the information necessary to help customers complete entire projects.

Day in the Life

Your day involves mastering the art of greeting, qualifying, recommending, and closing every customer interaction within your assigned department. You will also gain familiarity with the basics of adjacent departments to provide comprehensive support. Beyond sales, you are responsible for maintaining the in-stock condition of your area, ensuring it remains clean, shop-able, and safe.

Safety is a core pillar of this position. You will work cooperatively with Department Supervisors and associates across various departments—including Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental—to uphold a safe working and shopping environment. This includes completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards, and reporting unsafe conditions to the Manager on Duty.

Role Variations

Depending on store needs and your expertise, this position may take on specific titles such as Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, or Customer Order Specialist.
