The CT Technologist is a vital member of the diagnostic imaging team, operating computed tomography (CT) scanners to capture high-quality images essential for diagnosing injuries, infections, cancers, and other medical conditions. This role exists to bridge the gap between advanced technology and patient care, ensuring that physicians receive precise diagnostic data while prioritizing patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
In this position, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients during their CT scan journey. Your day involves preparing patients by explaining procedures, verifying medical histories, and positioning them safely on the scanner table. You will operate complex imaging equipment, calibrate settings for radiation dose and slice thickness, and administer contrast agents under physician guidance. Beyond technical operation, you are responsible for reviewing image quality in real-time, collaborating with radiologists to ensure diagnostic standards are met, and troubleshooting equipment issues to maintain workflow efficiency.
Patient advocacy is central to this role. You will monitor patients for adverse reactions, manage radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure, and provide education on aftercare and potential side effects. By maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to strict compliance standards like HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines, you ensure a safe and professional setting for all patients, including those with mobility challenges or specific medical vulnerabilities.
