The Cost Analyst serves as a vital member of the Research Core Development Team within the Office of Sponsored Programs at UNC Chapel Hill. This team is dedicated to ensuring that Research Service Centers (RSCs) operate with the highest standards of compliance, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. The role exists to bridge the gap between complex federal guidelines and day-to-day university operations, supporting administrators and institutional stakeholders in maintaining robust financial integrity across campus research facilities.
As a 100% remote employee, you will perform the full spectrum of responsibilities required to support the Research Core Development mission. Your work will focus on conducting detailed financial analyses and rate reviews for all University Research Service Centers, ensuring they adhere to federal guidelines and University operating standards. You will utilize systems such as ConnectCarolina and Infoporte to perform these reviews at least once every two years.
Beyond analysis, you will act as a key consultant and support resource for RSCs, providing technical assistance and customer service to ensure smooth operations. A significant part of your day will involve coordinating with various campus departments, tracking updates, and managing the filing of all RSC-related documentation. You will also contribute to broader Research Core Development efforts by updating critical information in relevant databases and information systems.
Applicants are encouraged to review the required and preferred qualifications carefully before applying. The selection process will focus on identifying candidates with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work independently with high accuracy. Candidates with experience in university accounting systems, federal grants, or Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification will be particularly well-suited for this role.
