This position is based at our Abbott Park, IL location within the GES Global Engineering Services division. As a Controls Calibration Engineer, you will be the guardian of our utility infrastructure, ensuring the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of process instrumentation and control systems used for generating and distributing utilities. You will bridge the gap between design and operation, supporting the programming and specification development of equipment while implementing project-related hardware.
Your work ensures that instrumentation and utilities control systems are properly specified, installed, and calibrated to perform their design functions. You will safely troubleshoot analog and digital hardware on utilities process control systems, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and field I/O devices. A key part of your role involves periodic assessments of field device calibration frequencies and addressing performance issues for replacement or upgrades. You will also assist engineering teams in developing functional specifications for major equipment systems and support validation and project commissioning efforts. Throughout your day, you will document tasks in compliance with approved procedures, GxP, and quality standards while actively participating in workplace safety and quality audits.

An accomplished controls technician with 5+ years utilities equipment/systems experience (boilers/steam & condensate, chillers & cooling towers/chilled water, compressors/compressed air oil-free, distillation units/pretreatment & purified water, etc.). Associate's degree in electronics technology or equivalent. Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and process control systems. Experience in using various software applications, including but not limited to, control systems, CMMS (Maximo), Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, etc.).
Skills: Distributed Control Systems, PLC, CMMS, Maximo, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Sharepoint.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in electronics technology preferred.
