The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) is dedicated to providing safe, decent, and affordable housing for the community. The Strategic Communications department serves as the voice of the Authority, ensuring that residents, stakeholders, and the public are informed about initiatives, programs, and milestones that impact their lives.
As a Communications Specialist, you will be the creative engine behind HABD's public image and internal engagement. This role exists to bridge the gap between the Authority's strategic goals and the community it serves. You will plan, organize, and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations initiatives that highlight the positive impact of HABD's work.
Your day will involve crafting compelling narratives through press releases, newsletters, and social media content, while also managing the logistics of community events and resident briefings. You will work closely with the Director of Strategic Communications to ensure all messaging is consistent, accurate, and supportive of the Authority's mission. From researching industry trends to coordinating with local media and attending community functions, you will be on the front lines of building trust and transparency between the Housing Authority and the Birmingham community.
This position is open until filled. Interested candidates should submit their application materials through the official HABD recruitment portal. The selection process typically involves a review of qualifications, followed by interviews with the Strategic Communications leadership team.
