The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) at the University of Iowa was established in 2007 to support investigators involved in clinical and translational science. Our mission is to accelerate translational science by developing the workforce, promoting community engagement, integrating research across the lifespan, and catalyzing innovative clinical and translational research. These efforts aim to develop novel therapies and healthcare delivery strategies, ultimately leading to measurable improvements in the health of Iowa and the nation.
The Clinical / Health Care Research Nurse is an integral member of the research team within the ICTS. This position is vital to the institute's mission, providing support that fosters innovation through research endeavors. You will design, plan, promote, and control clinical research trials while coordinating the processing and analysis of trial data. Additionally, you will assist in the development and maintenance of regulatory, data, and budget documents.
In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between the research team and patients. Your day-to-day activities involve screening patients for study eligibility, educating them on the scope of the study, potential risks and benefits, and obtaining informed consent. You will oversee subject recruitment and the scheduling of trial-related procedures, while also participating in the collection, entry, and testing of data within clinical research trial systems. Beyond patient interaction, you will manage regulatory documentation, prepare submissions, and assist in the administration of study budgets. You will also have the opportunity to mentor new students and staff under direction.

Strong Clinical Practice skills with work in a clinical practice area within the past year. Experience in the care of Immunology, Rheumatology and/or Hematology patients. Experience with cell therapy and/or chemotherapy infusions. Certification in ACLS. Experience in processing research regulatory documents and budget preparation. Experience developing education and orientation materials. The ability to adapt to frequently changing duties and work environment. The ability to work independently. Excellent time management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
