As a specialty referral hospital, Harper has established Centers of Excellence in neurosciences, bariatric surgery, vascular services, multidisciplinary cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention, and heart failure.
As a member of the DMC Nutrition Services team, you will conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients identified at nutritional risk. Your work involves evaluating medical history, medication and supplement use, anthropometric measurements, lab values, and diet history, while accounting for age-specific factors, cultural and religious practices, and barriers to learning. You will develop tailored Nutrition Care Plans that address specific nutrient requirements and education needs.
This role is collaborative, utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach with input from medical staff, nursing, speech-language pathology, and other hospital personnel. You will serve as a resource person for hospital personnel and medical staff regarding nutrition, participating in multidisciplinary rounds and providing education to various departments. Additionally, you will research and develop programs for dietetic interns, participate in research projects, and work with outside agencies to secure ongoing assistance for patients.
