At Crete Carrier and Shaffer Trucking, we are seeking more safe, experienced drivers to meet the evolving needs of our customers. Our drivers are paid based on practical miles, meaning you earn for 3-5 percent more total miles per year compared to companies that pay based on short route miles. Additionally, our recently raised governed truck speed of 68 MPH on cruise and 65 MPH on the pedal allows these practical miles to accumulate even faster.
We are committed to supporting our team with comprehensive and affordable health insurance, a matching 401(k), and a robust profit-sharing plan. In 2025 alone, our profit-sharing plan contributed $11.5 million, and since 2018, we have contributed $103 million to employee retirement accounts.
As an OTR CDL A Driver, you will be responsible for moving national freight. We offer a schedule designed for balance: 21 days out followed by 1 day home for every 6 days worked. Drivers in the top 50% of our fleet average $101,176 per year, with a weekly pay average of $1,945. Starting pay ranges from $.64 to $.67 CPM.
"STABILITY. EQUIPMENT. GREAT PAY. EXCELLENT BENEFITS. WHEN YOU HAVE LEADERSHIP THAT CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THEIR PEOPLE, IT SHOWS." - Brian Puff
Beyond competitive pay, we offer a wide range of perks including affordable insurance, partner discounts, driver recognition programs, a scholarship program, and a driver referral program.
