The Gainesville, FL Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center and the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) are collaborating to fill a full-time faculty position for a Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) Noninvasive Cardiologist. This role features a dual appointment with UF, primarily based at the VA.
Our facility serves as a 240-bed tertiary referral center for cardiovascular disease within the VA system. We offer a full spectrum of cardiovascular care, including on-site Cardiothoracic surgery, complex interventional and structural procedures, Electrophysiology (EP) devices and ablations, and advanced imaging capabilities such as 3D Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), PET-based perfusion, Cardiac CT, and MRI.
The Cardiology service is supported by a robust team of 3 interventionalists, 3 electrophysiologists, 6 noninvasive cardiologists, 1 heart failure specialist, and 10 Advance Practice Professionals. The team collaborates on VA Coronary Care Unit and general consult service assignments, sharing night and weekend call responsibilities.
As a Noninvasive Cardiologist, you will contribute to the interpretation of Electrocardiograms (ECG), exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, and ambulatory cardiac monitors. You will manage patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
A key component of this position is education and mentorship. You will supervise and teach general cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers, and medical residents. While patient care is the primary focus, candidates are encouraged to participate in advanced cardiac imaging interpretations and engage in clinical trials and research activities based on their interests. Involvement in the UF practice is negotiable, and an interest in working with the VA heart failure disease management group is preferred.
