This position serves as a critical support pillar for the SPAO Pre Award Research and Support Office, collaborating closely with multiple departments within the School of Medicine. The primary focus is managing all clinical trial pre-award activities, with a major emphasis on overseeing clinical trial budget development and negotiation.
In this capacity, you will interpret complex contract terms, negotiate financial arrangements with sponsors, and ensure strict compliance with institutional policies. The role requires identifying issues that necessitate renegotiation or clarification while maintaining the integrity of the research enterprise. Beyond clinical trials, the position may assist in grant pre-award duties, including proposal development, application submission, regulatory guidance, and the maintenance of electronic records.
You will act as a key advisor to investigators regarding sponsor requirements for major agencies such as the NIH, ACS, and AHA. The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills to meet project goals while adhering to University, sponsor, and federal guidelines. Additionally, you will provide financial and operational updates to the Director of Research Administration, exercising a high degree of independent judgment. The position also involves supporting post-award grant management as needed, preparing detailed proposal budgets, and coordinating with key University offices including HR, OSR, the Provost's Office, and the Dean's Office.
Success in this role requires a thorough knowledge of University business processes and federal regulations related to sponsored research, alongside the ability to manage complex financial accounts and reporting with precision.
