The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation serving as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of The City of New York. BNYDC constantly strives to provide an environment in which businesses and careers can take root and grow.
As a Building Engineer (HVAC) within the Property Management department, you will be the frontline guardian of the facility's mechanical integrity. You will operate, troubleshoot, and repair building mechanical and HVAC systems, ensuring the Yard remains a safe and functional environment for its diverse tenants. This role is critical for maintaining compliance with City, County, and State ordinances while managing the day-to-day rhythm of building operations.
Your day will involve a blend of hands-on technical work and strategic oversight. You will perform routine inspections of HVAC and fire systems, manage work orders through workflow applications, and conduct facility walkthroughs for data gathering and audits. A key part of your mission is to coordinate with the Chief Engineer to prepare operational procedures that ensure code compliance for mechanical systems and FDNY logs. You will also monitor contractor performance to ensure all work meets specifications and facility regulations.
