The Building Controls Technician serves as a critical independent contributor within the 63d Readiness Division, focusing on the expansion, upgrade, and replacement of building automation hardware and software for smart building infrastructure. While based out of the North Little Rock, Arkansas office, the primary scope of work spans a seven-state region including California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
This position is dedicated to ensuring the reliability and compliance of Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems. The role involves a blend of technical programming, system integration, and project coordination. You will work independently to meet complex project requirements with limited supervision, managing the lifecycle of Existing EBCS JACEs, new integrations, and retro-commissioning projects. The technician acts as a bridge between engineering teams, contractors, and facility stakeholders, ensuring that HVAC and control systems operate efficiently and safely.
Your work will center on the Niagara N4 Framework, where you will program, configure, and test building automation systems. A typical day might involve updating existing JACEs to meet current EBCS standards, correcting system abnormalities, and integrating these units to the ARIMD server using Virtuals. You will also participate in EBCS Stakeholder meetings, coordinate with contractors to ensure project success, and assist with Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC).
Beyond programming, you will monitor HVAC and controls through EMCS and EBCS systems to identify issues such as failed sensors or functionality problems. You will report these findings to RFOS for corrective measures and verify their completion. The role also requires designing and engineering control system hardware and software based on project plans, executing system commissioning, and providing owner training. You will collaborate closely with the OCAR-ARIMD Sustainment Manager and the 63rd Energy Manager, while also supervising sub-contractors and mentoring lower-level technicians.
This position requires a minimum of 25% travel across the designated seven-state area. Candidates must be able to obtain an Army Reserve ID card. The role involves physical requirements such as climbing overhead, crawling under spaces, working at heights, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
