About the Team

UW Health is a leading academic medical center dedicated to a holistic approach to healthcare. Our mission extends beyond diagnosing and treating illness; we partner with patients in their journey toward health and wellness. As the newest hospital in the system, East Madison Hospital stands as one of the most advanced healthcare and wellness centers in the country, embodying our commitment to innovation and patient-centered care.

About the Role

As a Biomedical Engineering Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all medical equipment at UW Health is safe, functional, and ready for patient use. You will operate primarily at East Madison Hospital in Madison, WI, with potential for limited responsibility at other UW Health sites. Your day-to-day work involves diagnosing defective equipment and implementing repairs without direct supervision across diverse settings, including operating rooms, trauma units, emergency rooms, and various patient care areas.

Beyond immediate repairs, you will coordinate and supervise preventative maintenance programs to ensure compliance with industry standards. You will also evaluate the cost-effectiveness of utilizing vendors versus in-house staff, assist in the implementation of new devices, and help create training and workflow enhancements for clinical groups. This role requires a deep understanding of applicable codes and standards issued by The Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies.

Hiring Process

UW Health is committed to a fair and inclusive hiring process. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply and look forward to reviewing your application. Specific interview steps and timelines will be communicated directly to selected candidates.

Our Commitment to Belonging

UW Health is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer committed to fostering a workplace where everyone belongs. Our respect for people shines through in our patient care interactions and daily work practices. We embrace the knowledge, unique perspectives, and qualities that each employee and faculty member brings to the team. We provide equal opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, or genetic information.
