About the Role
CarMax, the nation's largest retailer of used vehicles, is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our skilled team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and quality of thousands of vehicles on the market.
As an Automotive Technician at CarMax, you will have the opportunity to work in an ethical, transparent, and dynamic environment where your skills will be valued and your growth fostered. You will perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency, adhering to dealership standards. Your day-to-day involves diagnosing and repairing vehicle systems—including engines, transmissions, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, and air conditioning—to specification.
Beyond technical repairs, you will provide labor and time estimates for additional work and explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers. You will also inspect and test new vehicles, recording findings so that necessary repairs can be made. Continuous learning is a core part of the role; you will stay abreast of rapidly changing technology through formal training sessions.
