SWJ Technologie specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking an Automotive Software Developer for an assigned project with a client in the automotive industry.
About the Role
This position is designed for a professional eager to grow their career and make a meaningful impact on exciting projects. You will own the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for Scout functions within the Drive System and Range Extender (REX) domains. Your work will span from requirements gathering and software architecture to release, documentation, and supporting tooling.
In addition to core development, you will develop data pipelines and analytics to process large-scale vehicle and test data. This includes supporting validation, calibration insights, and quality metrics through robust engineering practices.
Location & Work Model
The role is based in Charlotte, NC and requires an onsite presence. You should be willing to travel up to 20% globally for in-person meetings, events, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleDesign and implement control functions for Drive and Range Extender domains including torque arbitration and diagnostics
- check_circleTranslate requirements into software architecture, state machines, and algorithms with defined interfaces
- check_circleDevelop unit, integration, SIL, and HIL test support for automated regression in CI pipelines
- check_circleCreate and maintain design specs, ICDs, requirements, and test documentation for compliance
- check_circleBuild and maintain data pipelines to process large-scale vehicle and test datasets
- check_circleDevelop KPI and anomaly detection analytics to support validation and calibration insights
- check_circleCollaborate with controls, calibration, and HIL teams to align interfaces and integration
- check_circleIntegrate software with vehicle networks such as CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Ethernet including UDS support
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field
- verified4–8+ years in embedded software development for automotive/propulsion
- verifiedProficiency in C/C++ for embedded targets
- verifiedExperience with vehicle networking (CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, UDS)
- verifiedSolid understanding of control systems fundamentals and safety mechanisms (ISO 26262)
- verifiedStrong data engineering skills: Python (pandas, NumPy), SQL, and big data tools
- verifiedHands-on with Git, CI/CD, static analysis, and issue tracking
Nice to Have
Experience with Volkswagen. Willingness to travel globally. Familiarity with model-based design (MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow/auto-code). OBD Mode 01–0A alignment knowledge. Knowledge of AUTOSAR (Classic/Adaptive), cybersecurity (ISO 21434), and performance profiling on embedded targets.
