This position serves as an Automation Engineer supporting the Army Edge Computing Capability (AECC) project, a critical initiative fielded by ALTESS for the US Army. The AECC solution establishes a containerized, Kubernetes-based, multitenant hosting environment designed to support both Army enterprise and tactical applications across multiple global sites. ALTESS, operating as a managed service provider (MSP) and hosting services provider under the Capability Program Executive (CPE) Enterprise Software and Services (CPE ES2), is building a cloud-native, software-defined infrastructure. This environment leverages Kubernetes and potentially Red Hat OpenShift, integrating tools such as HashiCorp Vault, Terraform, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and the GitLab Ultimate Suite to deliver a robust automation platform.
In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the automation and DevSecOps frameworks that power the AECC environment. Your work will directly impact the lifecycle management of Kubernetes clusters, the provisioning of customer enclaves, and the hardening of containerized environments to meet stringent government cybersecurity controls. Beyond technical execution, you will advocate for automation best practices across the organization, assess existing IT environments for operational efficiency, and provide essential on-call support for production incidents.
Candidates selected for this role must hold an active DoD Secret Security Clearance. Additionally, applicants are required to possess a Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification. If not already held, an approved computing environment certification under DoD 8570.01-M (such as automation, DevOps, or Kubernetes) must be obtained within six months of hire.
