United Therapeutics is the first publicly-traded biotech or pharmaceutical company to operate as a public benefit corporation. Founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter's pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), our mission is to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies and a near-term pipeline focused on PAH, pulmonary fibrosis, and neuroblastoma.
Our vision extends beyond pharmaceuticals to address the critical shortage of transplantable organs. We are working to create manufactured kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers to eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases. At United Therapeutics, our mission and vision are one; we use enthusiasm, creativity, and persistence to innovate for unmet medical needs. We are bold, unconventional, and believe that our sense of purpose transforms work into a vocation.
