This position serves as a vital leader within the Nursing Services department, operating under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services. The primary mission is to administer nursing care in strict accordance with established facility policies and local, state, and federal regulations, ensuring the maximum fulfillment of patient care-giving needs.
The role is designed to bridge clinical excellence with operational management. You will not only oversee the daily delivery of care but also play a key part in shaping the department's strategic direction. This includes assisting in the planning, development, and evaluation of nursing services, coordinating with other departments to maintain quality standards, and fostering an environment of optimism, warmth, and respect for patients, families, and staff.
Your day will be dynamic, balancing direct patient oversight with administrative leadership. You will recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions, developing and updating comprehensive care plans that include rehab and restorative activities. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to supervising and orienting nursing personnel, managing daily assignments, and ensuring staff compliance with universal precautions and isolation procedures.
Beyond clinical duties, you will act as a liaison between the nursing department and the broader facility. This involves participating in various committees (such as infection control, quality assessment, and ADA compliance), assisting with recruitment and hiring, and managing personnel issues including scheduling, performance reviews, and disability management. You will also be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of records, monitoring workplace safety, and ensuring the department is prepared for government surveys.
