About the Role
The Area Chief of Staff serves as a vital bridge between clinical excellence and operational success within Banfield Pet Hospitals. This position is designed to lead, develop, and manage associate veterinarians across assigned hospitals, ensuring the team attracts, engages, and retains top-tier doctors who deliver consistent, high-quality care. By partnering closely with Practice Managers, the Area Chief of Staff drives a culture where every pet receives safe, effective, and patient-centered treatment aligned with Banfield's six domains of quality.
As a working manager role, this position is 100% hospital-based. The ideal candidate will balance medical leadership with clinical duties, spending a percentage of their time seeing patients while overseeing the broader veterinary provider team (DVM, CVT, VA). The role is pivotal in validating clinical skills, managing controlled substance inventories, and fostering an inclusive environment where doctors feel supported and empowered to succeed.

Requirements
- verifiedDoctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent foreign degree
- verifiedVeterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure with all applicable state veterinary boards
- verified3 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery practice
- verifiedDEA license within 3 months of employment
- verifiedUSDA accreditation within 3 months of employment
