The Application Administrator serves as a vital administrator for HRT's enterprise software systems within the realm of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This role is central to technical software support and implementations, acting as a bridge between functional users, vendors, and the Application Services team. You will play a key part in ensuring enterprise applications operate efficiently, enabling HRT staff to meet organizational goals for increased ridership and improved operational efficiency.
Success in this position requires a broad, cross-departmental perspective. You will need to understand transit, organizational, and departmental policies, processes, and procedures to leverage system capabilities effectively. Your day-to-day involves collaborating with network and server infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues, monitoring application performance and uptime, and documenting modifications to software and hardware configurations. You will also serve as the primary liaison for issue resolution, working directly with system vendors and users to ensure proper follow-up and satisfaction.
A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of public transportation definitions and terminology by utilizing resources such as APTA, TCRP, FTA, and NTD. You will maintain records in compliance with HRT's Records Management Policy and participate in system implementation, maintenance, and upgrade activities. As an essential personnel, this position may require on-call duties, seasonal overtime, and occasional assistance to users in the evenings and on weekends.
Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License and agree to acquire a Virginia Driver's License within 60 days of hire if currently residing out of state. This position is classified as essential personnel and is exempt under FLSA status.

An understanding of transit scheduling concepts and operations dispatch functions. Direct experience administering transit-specific applications such as HASTUS, TransitMaster, and Enterprise Asset Management System. Experience using GIS/mapping programs such as ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo, and geospatial analysis functions. Experience administering ESRI applications. Experience using Crystal Reports, MS Excel and other report generation tools. A background in transit scheduling/planning/operations, information technology or intelligent transportation systems.
