As an Area Investigator for Asset Protection, you will operate under the direction of the Asset Protection District Manager to analyze and investigate matters concerning shrink, policy violations, fraud, and internal or external investigations. Your primary mission is to provide detailed analysis, develop cases, and identify opportunities to reduce company shrink and liability issues.
This role is dynamic and requires you to work in plain clothes, carrying full equipment for external operations. You will maintain an open schedule with availability subject to change, often working nights, weekends, and holidays to meet retail business needs. The position involves significant travel between locations within the district and may require undercover work in other districts to resolve complex cases.
Your work focuses on investigating specific areas of potential loss, including food portions in service departments, unauthorized discounts, mark-downs, mislabeling, and under-weighing products. You will utilize data from CCTV systems, exception reports, and NCR reports to build cases on suspicious transactions such as voids, refunds, and sweethearting.
You will also collaborate with Area Internal Auditors to investigate vendor theft, specifically targeting high-risk items like liquor, baby formula, and tobacco. In addition to investigative duties, you may be required to train new Asset Protection Area Auditors and conduct auditor responsibilities, including AP detective work. Success in this role depends on your ability to build business relationships with store management to obtain pertinent information and make sound decisions under stressful situations.
Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check. The selection process evaluates your ability to make sound decisions under pressure and your physical capacity to stand or walk the sales floor for extended periods, as well as your ability to travel between multiple store locations.
