This position is designed for a skilled Interventional Radiology technologist, not a nurse. You will join a high-acuity Level I trauma center where the team manages complex procedures including vascular interventions, oncology treatments, and emergency aortic responses. The role offers a dynamic day-in-the-life environment, balancing routine patient care with critical interventions such as stent placements, embolizations, and biopsies in a facility featuring 8 procedure rooms and 2 OR suites.
As a tertiary care facility, the team handles a diverse patient demographic ranging from infants to geriatrics. The environment is interdisciplinary, requiring close collaboration to manage high patient volumes and complex diagnoses. The unit is equipped with advanced technology, including Siemens systems and Philips ultrasound, ensuring you work with state-of-the-art medical imaging tools.
We offer flexible scheduling options to suit your needs, including a 4x10-hour shift (07:30–18:00) or a 5x8-hour shift (07:30–16:00). The role includes an on-call component, typically one weekday call per week and one weekend call every two months. For those on call, a dedicated closer parking spot is available to ensure quick access. Specific scheduling details can be discussed during the interview process.
To apply, please submit your resume along with copies of all required certifications (ARRT R, BLS, and VA license). Note that while a VA license is required, we can accept applications with a pending license if you are able to start work under a temporary authorization. However, the license must be in-hand by the Wednesday before your start date.
Candidates must be willing to float within their scope of practice within the facility. If you have any background hits or have previously worked at any University of Virginia Health system facilities, please inform the Client Delivery Manager immediately. Please also communicate any vacation plans between your sign date and start date to ensure a realistic start date is requested.
We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. While the COVID-19 vaccine is not required, a flu vaccine is mandatory with no exemptions. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives drive better patient care.
