Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Camaraderie, pride, and purpose are hallmarks of our daily mission. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement career that combines aviation expertise with a critical national security mandate.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will perform aviation-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, and contraband attempting to illegally enter or attack the United States. This is a full-time, security-based role designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability.
You will partner with a team to conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled goods via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. Whether operating fixed-wing aircraft or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), you will be a vital part of the border security mission.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Successful candidates will complete a three-part assessment before receiving a final offer letter. Duty locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements, and you must be willing to work at any location within the selected region (Southeast, Southwest, or NASOC UAS locations).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
Age & Veterans: While the standard maximum age for initial appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is 37, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for Air Interdiction Agent positions. Veterans' preference eligibility may also affect age requirements. We encourage all eligible veterans to apply and submit proof of preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) at the time of application.
