About the Team

Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a critical national security mandate.

About the Role

As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot performing aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career that combines the thrill of flight with the stability and benefits of federal service. You will work alongside a dedicated team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels.

Your day-to-day responsibilities involve monitoring behavior patterns of suspect persons and assets, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. Whether operating in the Southeast, Southwest, or at National Air Security Operation Centers (NASOC), you will be part of a dynamic environment where your expertise directly impacts border security.

Hiring Process

The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous, designed to identify the most qualified candidates. There are three primary ways to apply:

  1. Direct Application: Complete the Air Interdiction Agent applicant checklist and email it to a recruiter at cbp_amo_recruiting@cbp.dhs.gov along with your resume.
  2. USAJOBS: Submit your application directly through the USAJOBS portal.
  3. Airline Apps: Apply through the Airline Apps platform.

Once applied, candidates may be invited to a three-part assessment. Successful completion of this assessment leads to a duty location offer. New hires are also required to successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC) as a condition of employment.

We highly recommend staying updated by opting into CBP's talent repository. Select the Contact a Recruiter button, choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, and complete the pre-screening questions to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.

Equal Opportunity

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or status as a protected veteran. We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
