Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a critical national security mandate.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot performing aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability. You will partner with a team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position where seasoned pilots and those with military training are in high demand.
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined and offers three primary entry points:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the "Contact a Recruiter" button. Choose "Air and Marine Operations" and "Air Interdiction Agent" as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment & Placement: Successful candidates will complete a three-part assessment. Following this, a duty location will be offered based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region (Southeast, Southwest, CAMB, or NASOC UAS locations).
We are actively recruiting to fill critical agency hiring needs. This role offers a unique blend of high-stakes law enforcement and professional aviation. New hires may be eligible for significant recruitment and retention incentives, including a one-time payout of $10,000 after completing the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC). We value diversity and consider qualified applicants regardless of background, with specific provisions for veterans' preference eligibility and temporary age waivers for original appointments.
