Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement career that combines aviation expertise with national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a critical asset in aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for experienced pilots seeking an exciting and rewarding career with exceptional federal benefits and job stability. You will perform air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities to intercept smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, collecting and analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
AMO is actively recruiting for full-time security-based opportunities. We are particularly interested in seasoned pilots and those with military training who are ready to make a significant impact on border security.
There are three ways to apply to become an Air Interdiction Agent:
Stay Updated: We highly recommend opting into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, then complete the pre-screening questions. You will receive monthly emails regarding webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Location: A duty location will be offered after successfully completing a three-part assessment. Locations are determined by operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select, which may include the Southeast Region (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest Region (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (AZ, TX).
We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. As a federal law enforcement agency, we are committed to diversity and inclusion. Veterans' preference eligibility applies to those entitled under 5 U.S.C. 3312, and specific age waivers may apply for veterans or those with prior creditable law enforcement service. We strive to maintain a culture of excellence where every team member contributes to the safety and security of the nation.
