Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. Our mission is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to detect, prevent, and interdict terrorists, weapons, and contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. We offer skilled pilots an opportunity to join a law enforcement culture where daily operations are driven by a critical national security mandate.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot performing aviation-based law enforcement operations. This role is designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding career that combines professional flying with federal service. You will partner with a team to conduct air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. Your day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring suspect behavior patterns, analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. This is a full-time, security-based position offering job stability and the chance to make a tangible impact on border security.
The application process for Air Interdiction Agents is streamlined but rigorous. There are three primary ways to apply: submit the applicant checklist and resume via email to a recruiter, apply through USAJOBS, or apply through Airline Apps. Highly recommended candidates also opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting "Contact a Recruiter" to receive updates on webinars and career expos.
Successful candidates must complete a three-part assessment to determine their final duty location. Upon selection, new hires are required to successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC). Completion of this training is a condition of employment; failure to meet CBP standards may result in separation or reassignment.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for veterans or those with prior creditable law enforcement service. We are committed to building a diverse team capable of meeting the critical needs of the nation.
